Kate Maeder is a national political strategist, advising federal, state, and local candidates and political action committees. Before becoming a named partner at KMM Strategies, Kate was the Campaign Manager and lead strategist for Eleni Kounalakis for California Lieutenant Governor, the first woman elected to the role. She cut her teeth in San Francisco politics and rose through the ranks of Storefront Political Media from 2009 to 2017.

Kate’s political insight has been spotlighted on BBC News, The Hill, CBS News, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, ABC7, NBC Bay Area, and many others. She was named one of the 40 Under 40 political leaders by the American Association of Political Consultants and won a Pollie Award for one of the nation’s best digital ad campaigns in 2022.

Kate has a deep commitment to electing more women and members of the LGBTQ community. She has helped train women to run for office through the Emerge California program and co-founded California Women’s List to help elect more women across the state. She currently serves on the board of Equality California and is the Co-Chair of the Victory Fund’s Campaign Board to support LGBTQ candidates around the country.

She is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and now lives in San Francisco with her wife and two dogs. During the off-season, she can often be found behind the bar at Scarlet Fox, a neighborhood wine bar the couple owns together.
